A left atrial incision is made above the right pulmonary veins, exposing the mitral valve with a retractor: the annulus is dilated, therefore an annuloplasty is performed with periannular U-stiches and a mitral ring implantation. After the procedure, the valve continence is tested increasing the ventricular pressure, with no significant regurgitation. The atrial incision is then closed with 2 sutures, embracing the left ventricular vent which has been passed through the mitral valve.
