Two purse strings are placed on the ascending aorta for the arterial cannula, while another purse string is placed in the right atrium for the venous cannula and the left ventricular vent is positioned through the right superior pulmonary vein. Finally, an aortic root cannula is placed for venting and cardioplegia delivery and the aortic cross clamp is applied.
